About UsThe Stealey United Methodist Church of Clarksburg, West Virginia has organized the 5K Run for Open Hearts for the past four years. The 5K Run for Open Hearts has raised approximately $12,000 to benefit Open Heart Ministries. Since this is the fifth year of the 5K Run for Open Hearts, the Stealey United Methodist Church is expanding the festivities to include a one mile run and the Basketball tournament and Shooting events. The 5K and 1-mile run will be held on May 7th at the Mayor's Fitness Trail, while the Basketball festivities will be held on May 14th at Stealey Park.
More about Open Heart Ministries: Open Heart Ministries (OHM) began in 2007 as an outreach ministry of the Greater Clarksburg Parish of United Methodist Churches. Since its beginning it has become an ecumenical ministry comprised of the United Methodist Churches in the immediate Clarksburg-Bridgeport area, Centerbranch Assembly of God, All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Christ Episcopal Church, Abundant Life Church, Connecting Point Church, Horizons Church, Jewel City Church, St. Marks Lutheran Church, Clarksburg Baptist Church and Seventh Day Baptist Church in Salem. This ministry reaches out to low-income individuals and families providing a variety of services that include assistance with utilities, rent, as well as other types of assistance. Ministry staff work with the Department of Health & Human Services, Connecting Link, Inc., WV Community Action and the Salvation Army. At times, OHM is able to assist when these agencies cannot. Using Space and resources provided by the United Methodist Church and volunteers, they have been able to operate at an overhead of less than 2%. |
